Working in close collaboration with the Royal Navy at RNAS Yeovilton, Red One has once again provided fire cover assistance and Silver Command personnel for the recent Royal Navy premier airshow, the Yeovilton Airday.
South West’s Largest Event
The Air Day, one of the Southwest’s largest one day events, attracts over 35,000 visitors on the day, significant UK/Foreign military participation and support from the world’s leading aerospace companies.
With over five hours of flying displays including fast jets, historic aircraft, helicopters, formation display teams, aerobatics and a Commando Assault Finale featuring troops, aircraft and pyrotechnics, the Air Day presents a host of potential incident scenarios that Silver Command are tasked to managed.
Fire Cover for Premises
Red One furnished a Silver Commander, Operational Commander, Fire Crew and fully equipped fire appliance for the duration of the show, ready to attend to any incident at a moments notice. The Royal Navy Fire Service were tasked with cover for the air display itself, while Red One provided fire cover for the Air Station buildings, car parks and other public/private areas around the show site.
The Red One crew consisted of GM Darren Cripps, FF David Hellyar, WM John Trott, FF Steven Passmore, FF Phillip Hocking, FF Peter Lumsden and GM Kevin Hardwill.
