In support of Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service’s (DSFRS) core aims of increasing public safety, improving firefighter safety and becoming a more effective and efficient organization, Red One has been able to help operational fire fighters and fire officers across the two counties by enhancing the personal protective equipment (PPE) worn when attending emergency incidents.
Having already decided to invest in an upgrade to the helmets worn by its operational crews and officers, through the utilization of revenues earned by its commercial trading company, Red One Limited; DSFRS were able to provide a further enhancement to the PPE by the addition of a high intensity helmet torch, designed to provide more powerful light on the incident ground.
Making emergency working safer!
Red One sells fire, rescue and safety training, consultancy and industrial firefighting services to industry across the world. Profits from this commercial activity are returned to the Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Authority for re-investment in the provision of emergency services and the enhancement of firefighters safety across the two counties.
Following the completion of a robust procurement process and approval by the Service Leadership Team and Executive Board, the new HEROS Titan helmets are being supplied by Rosenbauer UK Ltd (Rosenbauer) and will be issued to all active operational personnel. Rosenbauer will deliver the helmets at locations across Devon & Somerset between 21 June 2016 and 2 September 2016.
The fitting of a high intensity helmet torch to each helmet will enable fire crews to see more clearly when entering dark and smoky environments and will also enable them to work ‘hands-free’, increasing their ability to handle other vital equipment while fighting fires or conducting search and rescue operations.
“We are very pleased that our commercial efforts have been successful enough to enable Red One to support our colleagues within DSFRS with this essential personal protective equipment and we know that these helmet torches will make our firefighters job safer and hopefully a bit easier“ commented Chris Thain, Director, Business Development and Marketing, Red One.
