Course Overview
This Fire Safety for Care course provides essential information for carers required to perform Fire Safety roles within nursing or residential homes, or who have to care for young or vulnerable people. The Fire Warden course is presented in a clear and simple style and its learning outcomes are closely aligned to the National Occupational Standards (Level 2) for Fire Wardens / Marshals. Highly experienced, knowledgeable and friendly trainers blend a traditional lecture with practical training in the correct selection and use of fire extinguishers.
Fires within residential or nursing homes and similar establishments can be devastating and may have tragic consequences. Because of this, such premises are automatically considered to be ‘high life risk’. Care homes should attain and sustain high levels of fire safety and emergency preparedness.
Recognising the importance of staff training in ensuring a safe fire environment for care home residents, Red One has developed a new course aimed specifically at personnel employed within the care sector. This half day course covers the key elements of Fire Safety, Legislative Compliance, Risk Awareness, Basic Principles of Means of Escape and ‘Good Practice’ for Care Home Fire Safety including fire routines, evacuation and the use of fire fighting equipment. The course is designed in compliance with National Occupational Standards and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission.
Our Fire Warden course is quality assured under ISO9001 and is a recognised training course of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
