The qualification comprises of 3 basic units including:
Unit 1: Tides and boating basics.
Unit 2: Boatyards and vessels.
Unit 3: Water survival techniques.
Who is this course for?
This course has been developed to facilitate individuals with the required knowledge and skills to deal with incidents in areas that are deemed to be within the local fire authority boundaries. This obligation is defined within the requirements of the Fire & Rescue Services Act 2004.
- Minimum age of 18
- Medically fit and healthy
There is a mix of theory and practical sessions together with a visit to a local marina.
On completion of the course students will be able to explain the operational tactics of fire fighting and rescue vessels in estuarial waters and inland water ways. They will also be able to demonstrate water survival techniques.
