The student will gain a knowledge of fire safety awareness, basic fire prevention and firefighting techniques. The tutorial will be followed by guided and supervised practical exercises where the student will learn how to use firefighting equipment.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for those who require a knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting to work aboard pleasure vessels, fishing boats, research vessels, inland waterways and private boats.
The course is approved by the Marine Coastguard Agency.
- Minimum age of 18
- Medically fit and healthy – a medical form will be required
- Theory of chemistry and combustion
- Classes of fire and fire fighting equipment
- Automatic fire detection
- Fixed installations.
Assessment & certification
Continuous practical assessment. On successful completion of the course, the student will be awarded a DSFRS certificate. The student will need to re-qualify within three years.
