Emergency Driver Training Courses

Emergency Driver Training Course:
We are one of the few UK Fire Service’s who have Delegated Examiner Status from the DVSA.  This allows us to not only provide LGV (CAT C) training but also conduct the final practical test!
Red One are able to do this for both fire and police services across the UK. We have recently conducted HGV training for 12 officers of Avon & Somerset and Devon and Cornwall Police. This was essential training required for Operation Tramline – Highways England. All 12 officers passed their tests 1st time.

Benefits of training and testing with Red One:

– All training and the final test is completed in a fire appliance. We believe where possible, firefighters should train in a fire appliance rather than a standard LGV vehicle offered by a commercial training provider.

 – The training and test can be completed in 5 days. We do have to book our tests with the DVSA, this saves what can be a painfully long waiting period.

Our training is delivered by our Academy’s inhouse driver training team. They deliver all of DSFRS’s Emergency Response Driving courses.
– At our Exeter office, we own a private 1.3km road circuit complete with roundabouts, junctions, traffic lights, cross roads, gradients and reversing bays. The circuit is ideal for the candidates first day of training, taking a fire appliance onto a public road for the first time can be a nerve racking experience.
We also offer the following courses:
Emergency Fire Appliance Driving (EFAD) – Initial or Re-Qual – This course enables personnel to safely drive fire appliances under blue light emergency response conditions.
Primary Response Driving Course (Light Vehicle) – Initial or Re-Qual
4 x 4 – LANTRA Standards
PCV (D1) – Minibus training
