STCW Basic Training in Fire Prevention & Firefighting - 2 Days
Who better to teach you how to fight and prevent fires than actual firefighters? As a fire service, we specialise in the Fire Prevention & Firefighting modules of the STCW safety week.
We run this course from our Maritime Academy in Plympton and is delivered by serving/retired firefighters of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
Approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency
This course is designed to meet the requirements laid down in STCW95 Regulation VI/I-2 and Section A-VI/I-2 Paragraph 2.1.2. of the STCW95 code. At the end of the course the student will be able to demonstrate the ability to act as a member of a fire party and be able to respond to emergency situations involving fire on board ship.
“Just finished my maritime basic fire fighting training in Plymouth, it was an amazing 2 days ! The course is absolutely perfect, every aspect is well covered and the chief instructor explains all of it very well, and all of this in a relaxed but professional atmosphere.
The venue is in an active fire station so you are fully immersed and that's very important.
Top of the range equipment: clothing, breathing apparatus...
For the practical training there is a life size replica of a ship , with engine room, hatches, stairs... Every thing you could find on a real ship, and they set it on fire for us to go in fully equipped, to find casualties and fight the fire: a MUST !!
To sum it up, like instructor Kevin says : HAPPY DAYS !!”

“Absolutely one of the best training set ups around. I did a 2 day basic fire fighting course and it was delivered with a lot of skill. Excellent equipment and tutors and the live fire exercises were run very safely. Highly recommended.”

“Just finished a 2 day course in Plymouth at Camels Head maritime school, a great experience from start to finish- friendly patient staff, good facilities and fun along the way. I now feel much more confident to tackle a blaze at sea and how to prevent fires in the first place. The practical parts are really good. Many thanks.”
