Accommodation, Training Facilities & Instructors
Included in the price of most of our courses is accommodation and all meals. We send visiting candidates to the Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport during their stay with us. Breakfast and a 3-course evening meal is provided by the hotel, with lunch being provided on site at our training facilities.
The hotel is off the A30 and less than five minutes from Exeter Airport via free shuttle.
We also have on-site accommodation at our recruits and maritime training centre in Plymouth. It provides 24 private bedrooms with study areas and communal lounges. Gender specific shower and bathroom facilities are available within the residential areas.
Full board catering is provided to the recruits by our dedicated catering team. Hot and cold meals are prepared on-site and available at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menus are planned in line with the course schedule ensuring that nutritional balance is maintained e.g. high carbs for BA training etc.
Our BAI, CFTBI and PPVI course take place at our Fire Behaviour School which is located within the grounds of Exeter Airport. Our site’s position is very favourable for those wanting to get here without too much effort with easy access from the M5.
The design and development of our practical training facilities builds on years of knowledge and ‘field testing’ which demonstrates great benefits for all we train here.

All courses are delivered by serving or retired firefighters, this makes them experts in their field. They all share a genuine passion for training and passing on their skills. Instructors competence and ability is constantly assessed by the DSFRS Internal Quality Assurance team.
Our fire behaviour instructors are highly regarded on a national and international level, with many fire services travelling hundreds of miles for their staff to receive training from our extremely experienced instructors. DSFRS has always been committed to excellent quality fire behaviour training which has resulted in a very high degree of technical competence amongst our instructional staff.
